Use these three SEO tactics to help your business improve website visibility.

As a business owner, if you’re looking to find your place online and on social media you may have heard of SEO. SEO (search engine optimization) is the practice of improving and promoting a website in order to increase the number of visitors the site receives from search engines.

Mastering SEO is what you need to do to have your websiteclicked on or your content liked, pinned or even retweeted. So how do you do that? Here are three SEO tactics for business owners who are starting out and are new to marketing.

3 SEO Beginner’s Tactics

  1. Audience first, search engines second.

In case you weren’t aware, Google is constantly changing their algorithm that results in what comes up when you search a topic. In order for your website to be found in search results create content that is tailored to your target audience. Creating content that is packed with important information can increase traffic to your site, build trust with your audience and attract social shares that can results in getting your content shared elsewhere.

  1. Keywords AND placement.

It’s not enough to include keywords throughout your content and hope that it will reach the top of search engine results; pick one great keyword or key phrase to focus your content around. Why? This will build structure, consistency and help improve SEO by making it easier for Google to know what you’re post is about. Here are five best places to include keywords in a blog post:

  • Blog Post URL: Use hyphens between each word
  • Page Title
  • Page Headers
  • Image Alt Tags: Include the keyword in the alt tag to help tie it into the post
  • Meta Description
  1. Create Internal Links

If you are writing a new blog post for your site, chances are you have other blog articles that are compatible with this topic. Include links in your new blog post to older posts. This will not only provide users with additional information, but to allow them the opportunity to easily explore other content your site. The more they look around and like what they see, the greater the chance they’ll come back regularly to read more.

SEO may seem like a concept that’s hard to grasp, but it’s really just about getting more people to see your website. Use these three tactics to help you begin your journey in Internet marketing and watch your website views soar.
