Brand Management – The How-To for Startups

Submitted by on April 10, 2013 – 10:00 amNo Comment

When entrepreneurs are first starting out on their quest to startup success, one obstacle they may come across is proper brand management. This obstacle, however, is one of the most important to acknowledge and overcome. Brand management means using different channels, from print ads to social media, to grow your business by gaining public awareness. Without effective brand management, your company may never have the presence in the world that it deserves.

First Steps

To begin, startups need to make sure that their brand is going to stand out from the competitor. To do this, notice if there is something that your competitor is doing for their brand management that is working, or perhaps, not working. Whether it is in your logo’s design, an ad that your company is creating or a product that is being introduced to the media, staying true to the values and vision of your startup will put you a step ahead when it comes to brand management.

Social Media

So you want to make an impact, make your new company appealing to the public and gain the attention of your target audience? Then besides sending out press releases or running a print ad campaign, brand management should also occur on social media networks. Creating profiles on each of the popular networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn, is important step in this process. Having profiles on social media sites is time-consuming and requires effort and energy. Postings on each site should occur at the same time daily or weekly, whichever your business can do just as long as it is consistent. However, if adequate attention is given to the brand management of each profile, building a loyal following of fans (and potential clients) should become easy. Just keep content engaging.
