Products: Selling Them with Visuals

Submitted by on April 5, 2013 – 10:00 amNo Comment

What is the trick to selling more products? Include visuals! Whether your company is creating a print-ad campaign or targeting a specific audience on its social media accounts, gaining visual appeal is the key. So how might you go about using this tactic to sell more products? Here are three strategies that will get you started.

Add visuals to your company's marketing plan!

Add visuals to your company’s marketing plan!

Collage

One of the most visually intriguing ways to get your products attention is through the use of collages. This method, thanks to Instagram, is growing in popularity. However, there is a fine line between artistically combining photographs and just throwing a bunch of them together. Collages, like those on Instagram, incorporate 2-3 pictures. Others types of collages combine many different pictures to create a larger, cohesive picture. Whichever collage you choose to do, make sure that the main focus is on your company’s products and that there’s something to tie them together, like a winter focus or items perfect for the beach.

Facebook

Another way to gain your products attention through the use of visuals is on Facebook. This social media giant offers two key visual factors: profile pictures and cover photos. Featuring new products, especially in a cover photo, will immediately direct a viewer’s attention to it.  Your company can also make use of Facebook by creating different albums. New products can have a designated album, or each album can be assigned to a specific product.

One more thing: remember to direct your audience to new and useful information that pertains to your company and products by adding links to your social media updates. Whatever the link may lead to (such as an article, video, infographic, etc.), links on Facebook are a visual component that is distinguishable from regular text.

Pinterest

I couldn’t write this blog post without talking about Pinterest – a social media site dedicated to the visual appeal of products. This site should be incorporated into the social media marketing plan of every company. With millions of users, businesses are able to link posted pictures, or “pins,” to their own company site. Examples include product photographs, infographics or instructional videos. Pinterest’s business pages are a great resource for displaying products, services or any related information in a visual format.

I know that this blog post has only touched the surface when it comes to selling products with visuals. I found this site that has more than 20 additional ways and is worth checking out. Need even more advice on product promotion through visuals? Three Girls Media & Marketing can help!
