Manage social media while enjoying a winter vacation.

Manage social media while enjoying a winter vacation.

Taking breaks is important to refresh and revive creativity and energy levels, especially during the cold winter months. Neglecting social media sites during vacation is a common mistake that can be easily avoided with proper social media management practices. Scheduling posts prior to your winter getaway means spending more time relaxing and less time thinking about social media!

3 Tips for Social Media Management During Winter Vacation

  1. Plan Ahead:Creating and developing content for social media prior to your vacation means a little more work now, and a lot less work later. Consider planning content for social media sitesat least one week in advance to avoid any potential hiccups in the posting process. You may also want to make an employee responsible for your accounts and monitoring activities, so someone will be there to take care of business right away.

  1. Schedule Posts:Prior to departing on your getaway, use tools such as HootSuite or Facebook Insights to schedule social media posts in your absence. These programs allow you to schedule the time and day content will go live on social media sites in advance of your vacation, in addition to providing essential feedback after posting occurs.
  2. Leave a Message:Social media management isn’t the only thing to pay attention to before your winter vacation, so be sure to provide information regarding your absence to those making email inquiries as well. Automatic vacation replies should contain a brief message explaining that you are away, when you will return and who to contact for any social media management issues or other urgent needs.

Managing social media sites during vacation can be a breeze with a little extra planning! Using tools to take care of basic tasks such as posting content and responding to messages will allow you to enjoy your time off and unplug from social media without any worries. How does your small business plan for social media management while you’re on vacation? Let us know in the comments!
