As social media platforms such as Google Plus, LinkedIn and Facebook become more prominent within the business world, one may overlook the importance of having Twitter as part of their social media marketing tools. However, with over half a billion registered users, one may have to simply pay a little more attention to Twitter marketing as a long term strategy for communication in business.

With technological gaps between generations and other social media tools to conquer, even seasoned social media marketing professionals can find Twitter intimidating.  A few of these Twitter marketing tips below will help your business’ venture into Twitter to be as stress-free as possible.

1). Become Familiar with the Site: Twitter offers a sub-site to familiarize businesses with the use of the social media platform and the potential of marketing strategies. You will learn how to set up the social media tool to promote your business, how to compose tweets, as well as any social media factoids such as how to use hash tags to promote your business. 

2). Attract Followers: After learning the basics of Twitter, you can attract the followers of your other social media sites by redirecting them to your new Twitter page.  By using your other social media pages and blogs to post about your newly created Twitter page, you may entice other followers to connect with you and re-tweet anything interesting on your feed.  You may also want to direct message users via Twitter, in order to entice them to take a peek at your company page. As you build followers, you can find more ways to include Twitter as part of your social media marketing strategies.

3).Build your Brand: Use the image tools of Twitter to relay your brand to users. Much like Facebook and other sites, your brand can be represented in your background photo, your username, and the image you choose for your profile picture. You want to choose something that represents your company’s personality in a unique yet professional way.
